Pastor John E. Swearinger accepted his call to minister in 1976 and believes that the work of the ministry is to see the manifestation of God’s Kingdom reaching beyond the four walls of the local church.
The hallmark of Pastor Swearinger’s ministry is his compelling love, through Christ, for hurting people; being evident by offering people both the hope of the gospel message and the practical application of God’s Word in the lives of the believers.
After graduating from Rhema Bible Training College in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1980, he entered the United States Air Force. As a result has had the unique privilege of ministering around the world. During his career of 22 years, he has pastored congregations in the United States, Germany, and Panama.
Pastor Swearinger and his wife Cynthia Swearinger are the visionaries for the current efforts at “The City of Refuge Christian Church of Northern New York” where the ministry motto is “Reaching People and Changing Lives with the Power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ”.
